File Formats

PDF: This is the favored format for printing due to its ability to embed fonts and images, ensuring that the design appears consistent across various devices and software.

TIFF: A high-quality raster format that preserves detail and clarity, widely used for images with intricate details.

JPEG: Suitable for images with less detail, but ensure it is saved at maximum quality to avoid compression artifacts.

AI or EPS: Ideal for vector artwork. These formats allow for scaling without quality loss and are perfect for illustrations and text.

Bleed and Trim

Bleed is an area that extends beyond the edge of your artwork, allowing for slight movement during the printing and trimming process without leaving unprinted edges.

.125" Border: Adding a 0.125" (1/8 inch) bleed on all sides of your artwork is standard when your artwork extends to the edge of the card. This additional border ensures that no unintended white space appears on the edges of the final printed product.

Guidelines for Adding Bleed:

Dimensions: If your final trimmed piece is 4"x6", your file should be sized to 4.25"x6.25" to include bleeds.

Essential Elements: Keep critical elements like text and logos at least 0.125" inside the trim line to avoid them being cut off.

Color and Image Extending: Ensure that background colors and images extend to the edge of the bleed area completely.

Additional Tips

Resolution: Ensure your images are at least 300 DPI for clear, sharp prints.

Color Mode: Use CMYK color mode since it is standard for printing. Convert any RGB images to CMYK before uploading.
